The Strata of Silence - A Novel
Julian DeCroix approaches adolescence in a deafening silence with chronic thoughts of suicide. Julian is intersex. Everyone knows…but not out in the open. It’s 1969, and no one talks about intersex.
The Bread House - A Novel
The Bread House tells a story of an alternative ancestral line of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The line is not based on blood-relation, but rather Jewish moral tradition passed down from Sara—the adopted daughter of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The story sets the symbol of Bread (egalitarianism, unity, peace) against the symbol of Blood (elitism, dynasty, war).
The Dislocation of God - Non Fiction - Theology
The Sandy Hook School massacre demands the question: "Where was God?" The Church has typically served up quick and worthless responses, and moved on. Many preachers claim that God was truly "there" at Sandy Hook. I say, "not". The Dislocation of God argues concerning where God really is and isn't...in the occurrence of atrocity, and where we should be.
(The pseudonym Waldon Du Bois is taken from my father Robert Waldon Johnson. He was a descendant of the Du Bois family. On the positive side, that that would be a relation to the civil rights giant W.E.B. Du Bois. On the negative side, the Du Bois of New Paltz, New York were slave holders.)
